Obituary of Michael Edward Mordenti
Please share a memory of Michael to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Michael Mordenti, age 69 of Lake Ariel, PA passed away peacefully on October 22, 2024.
Mike is survived by his daughters, Melisa Mordenti, Jennifer Longhenry and Michelle Mordenti, along with their partners and spouses Vincent Aguilar, Shawn Longhenry and William O'Leary. His grandchildren Johnathan, Gavin, Raegan, Deegan and Everly will miss "Grandpa Mike" greatly. They enjoyed visiting him for homemade frozen ice pops and the perfectly baked treats he would bring to family dinners. His dear friend and neighbor Jason Rossignol along with parents Jerry and Linda and fiancé Mende Clarke are proof that friends truly become family. Michael is also survived by his sister, Sharon Stolarski and husband Raymond along with his nieces, nephews and cousins. He is predeceased by his loving parents, Veronica and Edward Mordenti and his youngest brother, Kenneth, along with his son-in-law Daniel Stasiorowski.
Raised in Clifton, NJ Mike relocated to Lords Valley, PA in 1989. Many years later, Mike retired from his 36-year long career with the NJDOT to pursue his true passions of baking, cooking and crafting homemade soaps and candles. He made time for travel to Europe and Asia where he finally ate the cuisine he had spent many years perfecting in his well-seasoned wok.
A lifelong outdoorsman, family and friends will remember stories about Mike's adventures in hiking, camping, trapping, fishing and hunting along with beekeeping and raising poultry. He loved nothing more than exploring PA's state game lands and being a steward of nature. His daughters have many memories of enjoying the outdoors with their Dad and love and appreciate wildlife and the beauty of the local surrounding area due to his reverence of nature.
Mike was a great supporter of those with cancer and kidney disease as well as the outdoors. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in his honor to one of the charities he supported or a charity of your choice. Some considerations are:
o Legacy of Hope- an organization dedicated to assisting those with cancer with basic needs such as housing and food: https://www.legacyofhope.life
o National Kidney Foundation- dedicated to supporting life-changing research, education and advocacy to ensure that every person facing kidney disease gets the chance to thrive—not simply survive: https://www.kidney.org
o Or simply remember the ways you can help to preserve Pennsylvania's beautiful lands and wildlife: https://www.pgc.pa.gov/InformationResources/GetInvolved/Pages/Make-a-Difference.aspx#
The family would like to thank the excellent care of Michael's medical teams including Dr. Mark Murnin & staff, Dr. John Prior, NEPA Oncology Associates, NROC, the telemetry step down unit at CMC Geisinger, (particularly Mariah and all of the nurses that treated him and his family with such kindness) and finally the staff at Hospice of the Sacred Heart and his personal end of life caregivers Eva, Kathleen and longtime family friend Samantha Birtel.
Funeral services will be held privately in an outdoor setting with family and friends.
