Obituary of Veronica Hartill

Please share a memory of Veronica to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with love and heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of our mother Veronica Hartill, 67, of Hawley Pa. Veronica passed on Friday, November 2nd, 2012 at the VNA Hospice Lackawanna, Scranton, after an illness. Her loving and devoted husband of 42 years until his death in 2008 was the late Thomas Hartill. Born in Jamaica, New York, she was the daughter of the late Anthon and Anna Morris. For 43 years of Veronica's life she resided in Queens, New York. Veronica worked as a personnel and accounts Manager at Bandolene Oil Company, New York. In Ridgewood Queens, Veronica, better known to her friends as Ronnie was a wonderful mother to the whole neighborhood. All the neighbor kids' would stop to try her yummy baked goods and fantastic home cooked meals. Ronnie was truly loved by everyone and her door was always open. She was witty, funny, loving and especially giving to all. She is most remembered for her home-made chocolate candy. They were so delicious and creative and to this day people still rant and rave about her chocolates! In September 1988, Veronica and Thomas Hartill moved their family from Queens, New York to Lake Ariel, Pa. Veronica sacrificed her job and friends for a better life for her children. By far her family and especially her children always came first in her life. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She was selflessly generous with her time to the needs of others. Veronica had an active mind and enjoyed taking apart and fixing things. In her spare time she enjoyed going to bingo, or sneaking off to the casino. But most important to Veronica was spending time with her grandchildren. You would often find her having a tea party, playing house, school, play-doh, cards, games, sword fighting, doing puzzles or cooking with her grandchildren. Her grandchildren were the light of her life. She will be greatly missed by all, especially her children and grandchildren. Surviving are her three children, son Thomas Hartill and wife Helen, Allentown; and daughters Leann McMurray and her husband Jay, Hawley and Kelly Daniel and her husband Michael, Blooming Grove; grandchildren, Richard, Erin, Abigail, Zachary, Thomas and Destiny. Besides her parents, Veronica was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Hartill, two sisters Jeanette and Suzanne and brother, Anthony (aka Sonny). Visitation will be held Saturday, November 10th from 1 to 2 PM at Teeters' East Chapel, followed by the funeral service at 2 PM.
