Hi,
We grew up with Aunt Hilda and her husband Uncle Ray. Throughout my childhood we enjoyed Sunday pasta dinners and holidays with them. Extremely warm memories. When I visited Switzerland in 1974 I stayed one week with her relatives Walter, Margaret and their deaugher Isabel.
To whomever reads tghis, I would love to get in touch again with those relatives in Switzerland and if there is any way to facilitate them getting ahold of me or a way for me to contact them I'd be most appreciative (mjbrauch@verizon.net).
Out hearts go out to Aunt Hilda - rest in piece you gentle soul
Brian (and MJ)

Jonnet Steinbaum Abeles posted a condolence
Hilda Weder lived with us for about 5 years in Leonia, NJ, when my brother Robert Steinbaum was born in 1951. She was such good company! I remember her infectious laugh. Although we are Jewish, we had a special way of celebrating Christmas with her. My father would cut off the top of an evergreen on our small lot (whichever one was getting too tall), and we would tie Christmas cards onto the small branches. No fancy lights or tinsel but it was a very special day just for Hilda and us.
Another vivid memory is Friday nights watching television with Hilda. She would wash her hair and rinse it with vinegar and set it in tight curlers. Then she would give herself a beautiful manicure with clear nail polish.
She moved into her own apartment in Edgewater, NJ, at some point when Rob started school. That's where she met Raymond and was so happy to become his wife.
My husband and I and our two sons visited her in her single-family home in Hawley about 25 years ago, well after Raymond had died. She was proud of her immaculate home and the flowers planted along the edges of her house. And most importantly, she was so happy to be among her Rauch relatives. We thank the Rauches for embracing her so lovingly and making her long retired life so full. Jonnet Steinbaum Abeles

To add to the memories of my sister, Jonnet Abeles, Hilda lived with us and took care of me when I was very young and then when she moved out to Edgewater, she continued on a part-time basis. She had worked for friends of my father's, a family that had owned the NJ supermarket chain "Food Fair." Before I could say, "Hilda," I called her "Baya." I remember Hilda and Raymond's honeymoon in 1960 or 1961. They celebrated at the Echo Lake Club, a colony of bungalows for fishermen on a lake near my camp. They loved the setting and took me out for dinner. We were all so happy that Hilda at age 40 had found Raymond. Hilda also came into my fourth grade class to tell the students about Switzerland. Hilda always was cheerful and accepting, even from what I have learned, in her final days. She is an inspiration for living self-sufficiently and optimistically. She has my lifelong love, as I'm sure she does all who have known her.
