Obituary of Gladys I. Patschak

Gladys I. Patschak, age 90, of Paupack died Monday, February 11, 2013, at Ellen Memorial Health Care Center, Honesdale. She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis, in 1998. Born January 5, 1923, in Williamsburg, PA, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Pearl Mae (Hinish) Connor. Prior to her retirement in 1971, she had been a clerical worker for a broker in New York City. Gladys belonged to the United Methodist Church in Passaic, NJ, where she served as United Methodist Women President, Chaplain and Council Secretary. When she moved to Honesdale, she joined Central United Methodist Church where she helped make ugly quilts and became a member of the United Methodist Women group. In 2000 she moved to Paupack, PA, to live with her son and daughter-in-law, where she joined the Paupack United Methodist Church. She also belonged to the Women of the Moose, Chapter 941, and served as Chaplain, Junior Regent, Senior Regent, Star Recorder and College of Regents. In addition, she was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of VFW, Chapter 5084. She is survived by three daughters: Carol Mae Barto, Nancy Lee Halterman and Velma Jean Stewart and her husband Tom; a son: Charles Wesley Barto and his wife Claudia; twelve grandchildren: Anna, Tammy, John, Edward, Kim, Paulette, Brian, Edward, Darcie, and Kenneth; 22 great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren. She will also be greatly missed by her cats, Tiki, Kovo, Angel and May. She was preceded in death by four sons, Richard Lester, Henry Edward, Ralph Eugene and Walter Nelson Barto; and one grandson, David. Private cremation was held at Lake Region Crematory, Lake Ariel.
