Obituary of Juel Frederic Enger

Lt. Col. Juel Frederic Enger of Las Vegas, Nevada, passed away on February 25, 2013. Born February 11, 1934, in Brooklyn, New York, he was the son of William Juel Enger and Esther Isacksen Enger. After graduating from Lafayette High School in Brooklyn in 1952 he attended General Motors Institute for two years. In August of 1954, he was accepted into the United States Air Force as an Aviation Cadet at Reese Air Force Base, Class 56-H, becoming a 2nd Lt. and flying B-52 Bombers. Later assigned to K.I. Sawyer Air Force Base, in Marquette, Michigan, he was then promoted to Major and became a B-52 flight instructor. In December of 1966, he transferred to Willow Grove Air National Guard as a reserve pilot, allowing him to also begin his career as a pilot for United Airlines. He retired in Las Vegas, February 1994 as a United Airlines Captain B-767 and as a Lieutenant Colonel, USAF. Traveling with his wife, Vivi, he enjoyed his retirement traveling across the country in their motor home and flying to Norway to visit family and friends. He also loved to play golf and drive his fancy cars. He is survived by three daughters: Robin Bestel of Bethlehem, Radune Mautz of Mountain Top and Randi Mautz of Bethlehem, and eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He is predeceased by his parents, his wife Vivi Nordli Enger of Ski, Norway, his son Richard William Enger of Honesdale and his brother Juel Bredo Enger of Mount Pocono. Funeral services are to be held at 12 Noon on Saturday March 16, 2013 at Hawley United Methodist Church, 315 Church St., Hawley, PA. Visitation will begin at the church at 11:00 am. The burial will be at Lakeville Cemetery in Lakeville. His daughters would like to extend their appreciation to all of his very close friends in Las Vegas and to the doctors, nurses and support staff of Spring Valley Hospital for all their love, support and the quality of care given to their father. The family wishes to recognize the life-saving treatment given to their father in 2005, by Dr. Michael Keating at the Chronic Lymphonocytic Leukemia Global Research Foundation, affiliated with MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX. In lieu of flowers, contributions to their CLL research efforts would be greatly appreciated. Please make donations to www.cllglobal.org/donate.htm.
