Obituary of Dewey M. Adkins

Elder Dewey went home to be with our Lord on March 9, 2013, between 8-9AM at the Ellen Memorial Nursing Home.
Elder Dewey M. Adkins was born on June 4, 1936 to Nathaniel and Velma Adkins.
He was raised in Eighty-Four, Pennsylvania. He had four siblings: Darwin, Natalie, Rose Betty (all deceased) and one surviving brother Allen Adkins. He had five children: Nathaniel, Brian (deceased), Velma, Anthony and Kimberly.
He was married 40 years in April to Elder Arlene Adkins whom he met in Linden NJ. He worked as a transmission mechanic for over 30 years and drove a tractor trailer for approximately 10 years.
Dewey was a committed worker and a true servant for our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He was a Deacon of the Faith Christian Outreach Church for approximately 10 years and in 2007 he was promoted to an Elder.
His hobbies were hunting and fishing during his free time. But most of the time Elder Dewey and his wife Elder Arlene were ministering and helping people with all different kinds of problems.
He is survived by seven grandchildren: Joslyn, Nina, Jose, Joshua, Jessica, Isaiah and Asiah; four great-grandchildren: Jorab, Jordan, Ustafa and Jose Jr. and a host of relatives.
Calling hours will be Thursday, March 14, from 10 to 11 am at Faith Christian Outreach Center, Rt 739, Hawley, PA. The funeral will follow at 11:00 am with Apostle Michael A. Stevenson officiating. Private cremation will be held at Lake Region Crematory, Lake Ariel.
