Obituary of Margaret R. Adams

Margaret R. "Margie" Adams, age 75, of Lake Ariel passed away Monday, April 15, at Geisinger-CMC in Scranton after an illness. Born in Honesdale, she was daughter of the late William J. and Rose Kilgallen Gogard. She was a member of the Queen of Angels Parish-St. James Roman Catholic Church in Jessup. She was a former member of the St. John's Parish, Honesdale and the BVM Queen of Peace Parish, Hawley, where she was active in the Altar and Rosary Society. Margie graduated from Honesdale Catholic High School in 1955. Prior to retirement, she was the site manager of the Hawley Senior Citizens Center for 23 years for the Wayne County Area Agency on Aging. Prior to that, she worked for the BVM Queen of Peace Parish. Margie was the Citizen of the Year for the Hawley Rotary Club. She was Hawley Chairperson of the Daffodil Days for the American Cancer Society. Survivors are her loving husband of 54 years, Gerard J. "Rod" Adams Jr.; children, James and Sharon Adams of Honesdale, Joseph and Kathryn Adams of Lake Ariel and Sarah and Michael Cory of Noblesville, IN; a brother, John Gogard of Honesdale; grandchildren, Cortney and Ryan McNelley of London, England, Chelsey and Jordan Ubertini of Honesdale, Cale Adams of Honesdale, Lauren Cory and David Cory of Noblesville, IN; and great grandchildren, Isla McNelley and Brazlin Ubertini; and many nieces and nephews. Margie is remembered as an incredibly loving, caring and giving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, friend and community member. She provided hundreds of birthday cakes for all family, friends and patrons of the Senior Center for more than 40 years. Margie was always lending a helping hand to others and was a woman of great Catholic faith. As an organ donor, her lifelong commitment to helping others lives on. She will be dearly missed by all. A Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, May 10, at 5:00 PM at BVM Queen of Peace Roman Catholic Church, 314 Chestnut St., Hawley, with her close family friend, Father William Blake, officiating. Interment will be at the private convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association NEPA District, 613 Baltimore Dr., Suite 3, Wilkes-Barre, PA 18702.
