George R. Sweet, age 74, of Woodloch Springs, Hawley, died Friday, January 21, 2005, at home following a lengthy illness. Born in Linden, NJ, he was the son of the late George E. and the late Florence (Ferry) Sweet. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, the former JoAnn Berg.
A graduate of Linden High School, he received a BS from the University of Notre Dame in 1952, as well as an MBA from New York University. He had been President of Sweet Sign & Advertising Co., Linden, NJ. Mr. Sweet was a 30-year member of Rotary Club, recipient of Rotary Clubs Paul Harris Fellow Award, past president of Honesdale Rotary Club, CYO Coach and Moderator, F.I.S.H. Volunteer Driver, member of the University of Notre Dame and NYU Alumni Associations, past president of Jaycees of Linden, NJ, past president of Sales Executive Club of Newark, NJ, and a past member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Scotch Plains, NJ. He was a member of Blessed Virgin Mary Queen of Peace Church of Hawley, PA.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter: Mary Sweet Palladino, widow of Robert Palladino, of Eagleville, PA; a daughter and son-in-law: Susan and Alan Howarth of Medford, NJ; two sons and daughters-in-law: Thomas and Susan Sweet of Pittsford, NY, and John and Maria Sweet of Doylestown, PA; a sister and brother-in-law: Margaret & John Hubeny of Jupiter, FL; 10 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
The Funeral Mass will be Friday, February 11, at 11:00AM at Queen Of Peace Roman Catholic Church, 319 Chestnut Ave, Hawley.
