Obituary of Thomas Edward Grimes

Thomas Edward Grimes, age 80, of Woodloch Springs, Hawley, died Thursday, May 16, 2013, at Wayne Memorial Hospital, Honesdale. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, the former Joan J. Lamb.
Born February 25, 1933, in Far Rockaway, NY, he was the son of the late John and Helen (Gorman) Grimes. An Army veteran, he earned his Bachelor's Degree from CW Post University and his Masters Degree from SUNY Stony Brook. Prior to his retirement in 1990, he worked as Materials Manager for Grumman Aircraft. Formerly of Seaford, NY, he had been a resident of Woodloch Springs since 1991.
He was a member of BVM Queen of Peace RC Church where he served as Lector and Eucharistic Minister. He was active with the Springs Times at Woodloch Springs, enjoyed bowling and was an avid Yankees fan.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children: Stephen Pflanz and his wife Debra of Brockport, NY, Clare Kugler and her husband Ted of Massapequa Park, NY, MaryAnne DiGregorio and her husband Frank of Seaford, NY, Virginia Lariviere and her husband Jim of Springfield, VA, Carl Grimes and his wife Doreen of West Babylon, NY, Daniel Grimes and his wife Rosemarie of Arlington, TX; Diane Racaniello and her husband William of Farmingville, NY, and Rick Grimes and his wife Ellen of Lyndenhurst, NY; one sister: Roseen Lynch of Cary, NC; 22 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
One of nine children, his only surviving sibling is his sister Roseen Lynch.
Calling hours will be Sunday, May 19, from 2 to 5 PM and 7 to 9 PM at O'Shea Funeral Home, 603 Wantagh Ave, Wantagh, NY. The Funeral Mass will be held Monday, May 20, at 10:00 AM at St. William the Abbot RC Church, Seaford, NY. Burial will be in Calverton National Cemetery, Calverton, NY.
