As Robert's daughter-in-law, I grew to love this man as much as I loved my own father. I will always think of Dad as a happy man who held a deep respect for all life. He took his commitments seriously, and when he said he would do something, it was as good as done. He loved gardening, and I was always struck by wonder that those huge, calloused hands could coax such amazing beauty and productivity from any sickly or tender young plant. I like to think that while Dad's large, extra tall form made buying clothing a frustrating experience at times, it also served as an outward indication of the incredible size of his heart. I will miss him always.
