Obituary of Robert L. Gumble

Robert L. Gumble, age 85, of Paupack died expectedly, Wednesday, January 3, 2007 at Port Charlotte Reginal Medical Center in Port Charlotte, FL. Mr. Gumble was born February 15, 1921 in Edgerton, WI and was the son of the late Lloyd and Alice (Singer) Gumble. He was predeceased by his wife of 52 years, Susan Martin Gumble. Robert attended the Hawley High School and graduated in 1938. He went on to attend Penn State University and graduated with a degree in forestry. He was a veteran of World War II, having served his country in the U.S. Army. After his service, he taught shop for a short time at the Hawley School District, and later progressed to other occupations, which included carpentry and woodworking, boat building, and running his own nursery and landscaping business until he "retired". He also served for many years as the tax assessor for Palmyra Township, Pike County. Through all of his life, "Robert", "Bob", "Dad", "Uncle Bob", "Bobby", was known to all as a happy, loving, gentle person and a true gentleman. He will be greatly missed by all who were lucky enough to know him. He is survived by two sons: Dennis Gumble of Paupack, PA, Jeffrey Gumble of Kaneohe, HI One brother: Earl Gumble of Paupack, PA, Friend & Close Companion, Helen Stognief; Grandson, Eric; Granddaughter, Brenda; Great Grandson, Marquez A memorial service will be held Thursday, January 11, 2007 at 11:00AM at TEETERS' East Chapel, 505 Church St, Hawley with Rev. Martin L. Cox, Jr., Pastor, Hawley United Methodist Church, officiating.
