I have very good memories of Bill, as I played many years with him in the Newfoundland Horseshoe League. I'm sorry I did not get to attend his viewing, as I did not know about his passing until late Sunday evening.

I am so honored to have met Bill DeGroat. I will miss his visits to Costa's. His quiet manner and gentle ways were always evident. We are fortunate to have a memory of him at the park. I will never be able to look at the waterwheel without thinking of him. You will be missed.

Bill was one of the most down-to-earth, straight shooter, no-nonsense person I knew. He was a golfing and hunting friend. I have lots of great memories of Bill. A picture in my mind that comes back often is in Maine after a successful hunt, sitting in the motor home after a few JD's and Bill singing, "I shot a buck today! I shot a buck today.!" Our condolences to the family.

Bill, with his brothers-in-law, built my house. He also restored Teeters' horse-drawn hearse and made it a show piece of local history. Later we had many Rocky Mountain ski adventures together. I will always respect Bill for his common sense and natural abilities to get things done. We will all miss him and always respect him and his menory.
