William Levi DeGroat, age 68, of Lords Valley, died Wednesday, January 23, 2008, at home. Mr. DeGroat was born July 2, 1939, in Honesdale, PA, and was the son of Margaret (Laskey) DeGroat and the late Arthur DeGroat. He was a retired carpenter and cabinet maker, a true master-craftsman. He worked many years with Gumble Brothers building houses before retiring and continuing his work independently. His hobbies included car restoration, cabinet making, golfing, snow-skiing, hunting and fishing. His favorite activities included his participation in the Wallenpaupack Bowling League, Newfoundland Horseshoe League, Virtual Golf League and his early in life involvement with the Blooming Grove Fire Company. He is survived by his wife of 45 years: Alice (Schmalzle) DeGroat of Lords Valley; his mother Margaret (Laskey) DeGroat of Lords Valley; daughters & sons-in-law: Lauri & Dave Dorfman of NJ and Luann & Rick Robinson of GA; 5 grandchildren: Sara & Eric Dorfman, Faithe, Rhett & Ryan Robinson; sisters & brothers-in-law: Carolyn & Patrick Healey of Mountain Top, PA, and Dorothy & Thomas Krehel of Bangor, PA; many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Calling hours will be Sunday, Jan. 27, from 2 to 4 PM only at TEETERS' East Chapel, 505 Church St, Hawley, PA. The funeral will be Monday, Jan. 28, at 11:00AM at TEETERS' East Chapel, 505 Church St, Hawley. Burial will be in Lords Valley Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Blooming Grove Fire Dept. or St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude's Place, Memphis, TN 38105
