Uncle Willie, I still cant believe how long its been since youve been gone. I miss you everyday. You were such a fun uncle, and we made so many memories as a family. From cards, to dinners, to late nights, to BBQ's. Hey, remember the night you, me and my dad decided to pull up our pant legs and run around outside with 2 feet of snow on the ground at 2 in the morning, Then getting locked out of the house!!! Or, the time when we all went on a family trip to the stadium, and we frustrated some drunk and he says, "go back to the city, espanol!!"... you are missed by everyone that you ever came in contact with. And i want to apologize I never got a chance to tell you happy birthday. You are a true hero. Cant wait til I see that smile again. I love you Uncle Willie.
Love, your favorite neice Kim

Sincere sympathies to the family of Willie. I attended St. John's Lutheran School with him; he was always very happy and very nice. Both of our familes had summer homes in PA so we would talk about that and it seems that both of our families ended up moving to PA. I have not seen him since the 8th grade but will always remember him with a smile. Thoughts and prayers are with you all.

I have known Willie since he was born & have had the distinct pleasure & privilege of sharing so many laughs & good times with him, Lindamay, Ray & several other family members. Although I have lived far away from Willie for many years, we still kept in touch & shared our lifes good times & bad. Through all the years we have remained loyal friends & shared deep abiding love. His pride was his children & family. His smile, compassion & love is everlasting & will be with me for the rest of my days. I feel so very blessed that he was such a wonderful part of my life & will cherish the memories we shared for the rest of my life. I will meet Willie again one day & will once again, dance, sing, drink, party & watch that wonderful smile appear, only this time we'll do it longer. My prayers & love to all of you. Unfortunately over time, we lost touch, but you will always be such an amazing part of my life. You taught me so much and I will never forget you. You were a flower that was picked too soon. I will be reading a letter I wrote for you kids at your Memorial Service tonight. I know you will be there in spirit. I also know that I'm going to miss the hug, the pat on the back, the warm smile and the soft voice saying,"it's okay, you can do it." I hope your spirit will reach down and give me the strength I need to get through it with a "dry eye" as Danny said. His job is to stand by with the tissues.
This is a special letter that was written for Willie, Danny, Shannon, Samantha and the UNGRATEFUL so & so (Bryan).

"For the Love of Willie"
This is intended more for Willie's children than anyone else.
We are ALL very grateful for the loving memory of a smile, Willie's smile.
We are ALL grateful for the sound of a contagious laugh, Willie's laugh.
We are All grateful for goodness and love that was not stored in but shared from Willie's wonderful heart.
We have ALL been blessed by having the privilege of Willie being a part of our lives and us a part of his.
Death is never an easy thing to contend with; however even in death there are many "it could have been much worse" situations. I know this first hand; I'm a member of the "been there done that club." I lived with and had taken care of them all.
The best and first choice of anyone I have ever met through the years is dying in your sleep, peacefully.
The worst is suffering through a long term chronic disease and not knowing the people you love, are right there with you. When this person looks in your eyes tells you they love you and in the same breath say, "I just wish I could remember who you are." That's true suffering at it's worst for everyone.
Willie died in "Willie fashion"; he died while he was doing something he loved, for someone he cared about. He was happy planting the flowers in his garden. That’s a good thing to hold on too and a good vision to keep in your minds as well as your hearts.
Willie didn't suffer, and if there was any pain, it was for an instant and done. Thank you God for not making such a wonderful man suffer.
Willie was a happy go lucky person, always full of love, life and goodness. Always quick to laugh, and what a laugh, it certainly was a contagious laugh. Willie was a lot like my Dad was . . . he would have given you his right arm & left leg if you needed it. And he would have done it gladly and with a smile on his face. It would have made him happy to know he was able to do something to help someone else out.
After I wrote this letter to Willie’s kids, I found out he was an Organ Donor. So even in death, Willie’s last very unselfish act was to help others. This only re-enforces and solidifies everything I had written in this letter. People just don’t come much better than that. Back to the letter.
Willie was also a proud man, yes a proud man, but not in the normal sense. He was very proud of his children. In this day and age there are not too many parents who can stand back and honestly say, "I did a good job." Willie had all the right in the world to be proud and reach around and pat himself on the back; his children have grown to be good adults. I know in my heart they will do honor and homage to their father by continuing to be good adults who make a difference. I can say these things without reservation because through the years Willie’s kids were my kids and my kids were Willie’s kids. It doesn’t get any better than that.
I have this vision of Willie in heaven meeting up with old acquaintances and new friends meeting him at the gate, my Dad and Grandfather among them. Knowing the personalities of these mischievous and fun loving men, I can see the perplexed look on God's face and I can here him saying, "What have I done . . . there will be no peace." There may be no more peace and quiet in heaven, but they are having fun and saving a place for us later on.
Thank you Willie for the love, laughter, the smiles and the memories that will always be held close in our hearts ! ! !
God has blessed you and will keep you and all of your family and friends close at hand.
From my heart to your with ALL my love always,
Debbie Cozza (Mom)

My Dearest Friend,
Little did I know what an affect you and your family would have on our lives the day you called me and asked if you and Dan could take Angela to the school dance in 3rd grade. From that time on you and your family have become more than friends to us. You are our extended family. You have done so many things for us, taught Angela to ski, stopped over to see her all dressed up for her first prom in 9th grade, all those Fridays at the ski lodge, the log carrier that you made for us, dinners together, golfing with Lou, watching Angela play softball, visiting Lou in the hospital and so much more. We will never forget all the great times that we have spent at your home and ours, all together. Those memories will never be erased. You are a wonderful father and you have raised a wonderful family and they will go on because of your loving, caring and nurturing that you gave to them. You are our forever angel. Love Always, Debbie, Lou and Angela.

When I think back to my childhood, probably one of the fondest memories that I have includes you and your family. Now that I think of it, if it wasn't for you, I would not know how to ski. Afterall, it was you who taught me to do "the pie". I can still hear Samantha and Shannon laughing as we were all going down the bunny slope together trying to help me not to fall. Then there were the times after church on Sunday when we would all get together at my house and have bagels and coffee. And who could forget the time I spilled the grapejuice all over Dan at the Sader dinner? haha. Just thinking about all of that now brings a smile to my face. It is not too often that people get to experience the joy of knowing such a wonderful person; but I am honored to say that my life has been all the better for knowing you and your family. So thank you for all the things you taught me when I was younger and for making our family "get-togethers" that much better. We are truly blessed because of it!
All My Love,
Angela

Uncle Willie, you mean the world to me, the best person I ever encountered in my entire life, I treasure every moment I got to spend with you! And Im so glad that I had the privilege of telling you that in person as we golphed, and laughed, and fished, and hugged, and sipped, and smiled. I thank God so much for the time he let me spend with you! I love you so much! You are so special, will always be with us. Every time we saw each other, we always smiled the entire time, laughed so loudly, and hugged at least 10 times throughout each one of our special days together. What wonderful memories you gave to me. The only explanation I could give describing my Uncle Willie is one of God's angel's on earth. God thank you so much!!

WE COULDN'T HAVE KNOWN THAT MORNING, GOD WAS GOING TO CALL YOUR NAME. IN LIFE WE LOVED YOU DEARLY, IN DEATH WE DO THE SAME. IT BROKE OUR HEARTS TO LOSE YOU. BUT YOU DID NOT GO ALONE. FOR PARTS OF US WENT WITH YOU, THE DAY GOD CALLED YOU HOME. YOU LEFT US WITH PEACEFUL MEMORIES, AND YOUR LOVE IS STILL OUR GUIDE. AND THOUGH WE CANNOT SEE YOU.. WE FEEL YOU ALWAYS BY OUR SIDE. OUR FAMILY CHAIN IS BROKEN, AND NOTHING SEEMS THE SAME.
BUT AS GOD CALLS US, ONE BY ONE, THE CHAIN WILL LINK AGAIN! Until this time comes rest in peace...XOXO Jennifer

I am still shocked, I can’t believe this is true. I want to wake up from this bad dream, and everything be normal again.. Why did heaven need this angel and Why now? Questions we will never know the answer to.. I feel better knowing that now you can watch over all of us and spend time with all of us in your own special way. I love you, I have and always will love you, we had a special love you were (are) my godfather.
Willie, Danny, Shannon, Samantha, I am so sorry, I can’t imagine your pain. Time heals all wounds. Your dad is forever with you, just in a different way. You can still talk to him, Your just going to have to listen to what he says a different way now. Through your heart and from what he has taught you in the past… your dad was a great man, And wants the best, from all of you.. Do your dad proud, in his honor… Love Jennifer

Willie, Dan, Shannon and Samantha:
We were shocked and saddened by the news of your father's passing. Memories of summers spent on bleachers in the hot Philadelphia sun sprang into mind with Willie leading the cheers in support of the team.
He was a kind and gentle soul and although he no longer walks among us, his memory will remain in the hearts of all who knew him.
Live your lives in honor of him.
"If I should go tomorrow,
It would never be goodbye,
For I have left my heart with you,
So don't you ever cry,
The love that's deep within me,
Shall reach you from the stars,
You'll feel it from the heavens,
And it will heal the scars"
Fondly, Al, Carole and Darren

I remember Willie from when I was growing up. He was always in good spirits and happy. He was a great dad to his kids and he will be deeply missed. The Gutmann children should know that Willie will watch over them from above and help guide their path in life. He will always be wtih them; in their hearts and minds.
I am deeply sorry for your loss. May God bless you all.
With sincere sorrow for your loss,

Words cannot express the sadness I feel for each one of you. I know how wonderful a dad he was. Your dad was a wonderful friend and would make me laugh some of my heartest laughs. Unfortunately, life took us all in different directions. However, distance can't take memories away. May the knowledge and memories of your dad be with each one of you always and know he will be with you where ever life takes you. Love Aunt Vicki
God Bless you Willie! I will always remember that smile.

Willie, as our family called him was such a wonderful person and father. He was the kindest man I had ever met and his children are the same way. We are so blessed that we became close friends of him and his family and our family spent a lot of time with his family. Those were times that we will always remember. I know he’s now looking down from heaven on his family and friends and watching over all of us. We will never forget him and are blessed we were friends. Rest In Peace Willy. Love Always, Debbie, Lou, and Angela.
