William John Willie Gutmann, age 48, of Settlers Village, Hawley, died Saturday, April 19, 2008, at Wayne Memorial Hospital, Honesdale. Born April 18, 1960, in Richmond Hills, NY, he was the son of Helen (Miller) Gutmann and the late John Gutmann.
He was employed as Postmaster of the Port Jervis Post Office. A postal employee for his entire working life, he was the former postmaster in Livingston Manor, NY and Honesdale. Formerly of New York City, he had been a Hawley resident for 19 years.
He was known by his accountability to work but far more so for his devotion to his family. He remained actively involved with his family in spite of their physical distances and found great pleasure spending time with his mother, his siblings and their families. At his essential core was a highly dedicated father for whom his children were his greatest pleasure, pride and joy. For those who knew him, his friendship, his support and his unwavering love of his family can never be replaced and he will be deeply missed.
He is survived by two daughters: Shannon and Samantha; two sons: Daniel and William, all of Hawley; his mother: Helen Gutmann of New York; two sisters: Hulleyanne Millitello of New York, and Linda May Rodnite of Greeley; four brothers: James of New York, Thomas of Hawley, Michael of New York, and twin brother Frederick of New York; his former wife: Sylvia Dobis; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a brother Stephen Gutmann, a nephew Raymond Millitello, and his companion Lori Pascoe.
Calling hours will be Wednesday, April 23, from 2 to 4 PM and 7 to 8:30 PM at TEETERS' East Chapel, 505 Church St, Hawley, PA. The funeral will be Wednesday at 8:30 PM, immediately following visitation at the funeral home. Private cremation will be held at Lake Region Crematory, Lake Ariel.
