Obituary of Vincent A. Scamell

Vincent A. "Skip" Scamell, Jr., age 63, of Hawley, died Monday, February 9, 2009, at home.
Mr. Scamell was born September 4, 1945, in Miami, FL, and was the son of the late Vincent, Sr. and Virgina (Meyers) Scamell. Skip graduated from Colgate University in 1966 and earned his law degree from the University of Toledo.
He served in the Army during the Vietnam War in the Judge Advocate Corps. He was the former clerk for Judge Robert Conway and more recently was an attorney for Fine, Wyatt & Cary in Honesdale from which he retired.
He was a member of the Hawley United Methodist Church, the Joyful Ringers Bellchoir and Wayne County Bar Assoc. He was active at the Ritz Co. Playhouse on stage and administratively for 35 years and had served as president the last 10 years. He was also a member of "The Act", a community theater group in Carbondale.
He is survived by two sons: Matthew Scamell and Daniel Scamell, both of Hawley, PA; one brother: Robert Scamell of Oyster Bay, LI, NY; and his former wife: Catherine Scamell Johnson of Westminister, MD.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Feb. 14, 2009, at 11 AM at Hawley United Methodist Church with visitation from 10 AM to 11 AM.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Ritz Co. Playhouse, Keystone St., Hawley or Hawley United Methodist Church-Joyful Ringers, Church St., Hawley.
