Obituary of Wendell C. Reafler

Wendell C. "Wendy" Reafler, age 90, of Hawley died Friday, February 13, 2009 at home. Born March 18, 1918, in Winterville, GA, she was the daughter of the late Joseph P. and Mozelle (Hansford) Crowley. She was preceded in death by her husband of 26 years, Martin A. Reafler, in 1975. She was a graduate of University of Georgia and East Stroudsburg State College. In her earlier years,she was a receptionist for Frigidaire in Atlanta, GA. She taught home economics in Social Circle, GA, and was an elementary teacher for 20 years for Wallenpaupack School District in Lackawaxen. A member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, she was also a member of the Willing Workers and the Order of the Eastern Star. An avid gardener and cook, Wendy was a loving mother and grandmother. She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law: Marcia and David Dunsmore of Hawley and Debbie and Hugh Murray; two grandchildren: Stuart Dunsmore of Houston, TX, and Emily Dunsmore of Auckland, NZ; two sisters: Alene Cassidy of Woodstock, GA, and Martha Sue Smith of Atlanta, GA; two brothers: Tunis Crowley of Griffin, GA, and Ronald Crowley of Madison, AL; and a sister-in-law: Louise Crowley of Atlanta, GA. She was predeceased by a sister, Frances Green, and a brother, Joseph Crowley. Friends may call on Mon., Feb. 16, from 4 PM to 7 PM at the home of Wendell C. Reafler, 500 Myrtle Ave., Hawley, PA, and Tues., Feb. 17, from 11 AM to Noon at Hawley United Methodist Church, 315 Church St., Hawley, PA. The Memorial Service will be Tues., Feb. 17, at 12:00 Noon at Hawley United Methodist Church with Rev. Martin L. Cox, Jr., Pastor, officiating. Private cremation will be held at Lake Region Crematory, Lake Ariel. Memorials may be made to Highlight's Foundation, 910 Church St., Honesdale, PA 18431
