Obituary of Alice Elizabeth Ungerer

Alice Elizabeth Ungerer, age 96, of, Kokomo, IN, died Friday, October 16, 2009, at Sycamore Village in Kokomo. Mrs. Ungerer was born May 5, 1913, in Brooklyn, NY, and was the daughter of the late John J. and Alice M. (Cresser) Fleishmann. She was predeceased by her husband, Walter in 1978. Prior to retirement, she was employed as a wrapper by Haines Dept. Store in Brooklyn, NY. Mrs. Ungerer was a member and former Elder of First Presbyterian Church in Hawley. She was also a member of the church choir and Order of the Eastern Star. She was a former member of Olivet Presbyterian Church and Foresters of Brooklyn, NY, while she resided there. Mrs. Ungerer had been active with the Hawley Senior Citizens group for many years. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law: Walter J. and Janet Ungerer of Kokomo, IN, and Eugen Karl and Karen Ungerer of Williston Park, NY; four grandchildren: Cheryl, Walter, Brian and Rachael; eight great grandchildren: Alexis, Briel, Benjamin, Jacob, Nicholas, Peter, Reis, and Molly; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a daughter, Alice Marie Saari, and six sisters: Evelyn, Estelle, Lillian, Doris Emma, Eva and Marion. The funeral will be at the First Presbyterian Church of Hawley, 815 Church St, Hawley, on Saturday, October 24, at 10 AM. Visitation will be held at the church from 9 AM until the time of service. Burial will be in Mt. Moriah Cemetery in Kimbles, PA. Memorials may be made to the Memorial Fund at First Presbyterian Church of Hawley, 815 Church St, Hawley, PA 18428.
