Lori, Mrs. Gillette and family~
I am very sorry to hear about the passing of Mr. Gillette. He was an absolute wonderful friend (as was Mrs. Gillette) to my grandparents, Anna and Victor Banko. They cherished their friendship. Both he and Mrs. Gillette were a great comfort to all of our family being so far away from my grandparents. We knew Mr & Mrs Gillette were always there for them.
I'll never forget how, at my grandfather's viewing at Teeter's, Mr. Gillette took the time to show and explain the Knights of Columbus sword to my small children and their cousins who were dealing with the death of a loved one for the first time. It was a special moment and they all remember it. That's just one example of how caring and giving Mr. Gillette was.
Now he is at peace with the Lord.

I will always remember Uncle Charlie as a "funny guy". I don't really ever remember him being anything but. I spent a lot of time with the "Gillette's" when I was a kid, went on vacation with them and spent many days with Lori at the "Sandy Beach Motel". Wonderful memories! I will miss him very much!!!

Jean,Gary,Steve,Lori,
I am going to miss your Dad sooo much. Many years ago we became very good friends - between the Knights of Columbus and playing cards. Many a poker game we enjoyed together - and many a trip to the casinos we enjoyed(win or lose).
More importantly, Charlie was a really good person. As Gary said in his eulogy in church, Charlie lived by the motto,"Do the right thing." Charlie did right by everybody and everything he touched. It was truly my honor and pleasure to have known Charlie these many years.
Please accept my sympathy for your great loss - and know that his passing is also a great loss for our community.

Jean, Gary, Steve and families,
I am sorry to hear of Charlie's passing. He and I had many light moments over at the post office and in mom's kitchen at the Trading Post. I fondly remember Charlie along with the rest of the "group" (Dad, Mom, Charlie, Chet, Bob, Gene, Vince, Dan, Chief, Jebson and the entire Honesdale state police barracks). We could say they were all truly our friends. He will be very much missed. Our heartfelt condolences.

Charlie was a fantastic, caring friend. He always tried to make others happy and relaxed. If anyone needed help,Charlie was the first to offer. If you were with Jean and Charlie you knew you would have a great time. He was so proud of his entire family and loved them all so much! In return their love for him was very visible especially over the last two years. He took great comfort in that. He will be terribly missed by all-but all will be grateful that he is out of pain. There are so many memories of Charlie and his service to his community. He was a regular at the 9:15 am Mass serving as an usher for so many years it is hard to remember when he wasn't there! He was so good to have on the Finance Council to keep us grounded.
Most of all he was a good friend. I shall always remember the fact that he was so sick, yet he was at my retirement party in 2008. I love the man! I am positive that he is with his Dear Lord right now. God bless Jean and his family who will miss him greatly.
