Obituary of Paul E. Walsh

Paul E. Walsh, age 84, of Hawley died Wednesday, July 14, 2010, at Wayne Memorial Hospital, Honesdale. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, the former Edith M. Howells. Born September 4, 1925, in Flat River, MO, he was the son of the late Linn and Fairy (Twomey) Walsh. A US Army veteran, he received a Purple Heart in Germany during WW II. Formerly of Lodi, NJ, and Bronx, NY, he retired after 43 years as a butcher for A&P Supermarkets in New York and New Jersey. He had been a Hawley resident for 23 years and was a Lifetime Member of the VFW in Hawley and now in Honesdale, a Fourth Degree Knight of Columbus in Bishop Hoban Council, and was a member of BVM Queen of Peace RC Church. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters: Ruth Savich of Lake Ariel and Peggy Connelly of Hawley; nine grandchildren: Michael Savich, Patrick Walsh, Cheryl Savich, Kelly Horn, Katie Ross, Tara Savich, Kerry Walsh, Peter Walsh and Chris Connelly; and nine great grandchildren: Robert Anderton, Miranda Anderton, Shane Walsh, Dylan Walsh, Sean Savich, Destyne Walsh, Alora Ross, Evangeline Chamberlain and Patricia Chamberlain. He was predeceased by a son, Robert Walsh. He was greatly loved and will be sorely missed by his whole family. Calling hours will be Monday, July 19, from 5 to 8 PM at Teeters' East Chapel, 505 Church St, Hawley, PA. The funeral will be Tuesday, July 20, at 10:00 AM at BVM Queen Of Peace Roman Catholic Church, 314 Chestnut Ave, Hawley, where a Funeral Mass will be celebrated by Father Irudaya Illuri, Assistant Pastor. Burial will be in Fort Indiantown Gap VA National Cemetery, Annville, PA.
