Obituary of Elaine G. Mowatt

Elaine G. Mowatt, age 62, of Blooming Grove, passed away Wednesday, September 15, 2010, at home surrounded by her loving family following a long battle with cancer. Her husband of 41 years is Thomas W. Mowatt. Born in Rockville Centre, NY, she was the daughter of the late George and Bertha (Kunz) Saar. She was a graduate of Uniondale High School and the Glen Cove School of Nursing. She was a member of Good Shepherd Roman Catholic Church, Blooming Grove. She was a devoted grandmother of eight grandchildren. She loved cooking, reading, gardening, and traveling to Cape Cod. Her greatest joys in life were spending time with her husband, children and grandchildren. Surviving are a son: Thomas M. Mowatt of Easton; five daughters: Jennifer Kliokis and her husband Bruce of Tafton, Colleen Berlen and her husband Steve of Pen Argyl, Arlene Phillips and her husband Jeremy of Pen Argyl, Allison Mowatt of Blooming Grove, and Elizabeth Mosher and her husband Neil of Hawley; a sister: Mary Ann Nelson and her husband Dwight and their four children of Long Island; a brother, George Saar and his two children of Long Island; and eight grandchildren. A Memorial Gathering will be held on Saturday, Sept. 18, from 12 to 3 PM at Teeters' East Chapel, 505 Church St., Hawley. Private cremation was held at Lake Region Crematory, Lake Ariel. A private service will be held at the family residence at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude's Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
