Obituary of Carol A. Cavanaugh

Carol A. Cavanaugh, age 71, of Tink Wig, Hawley, died Sunday, September 26, at home. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Joseph P. Cavanaugh Sr. Born December 7, 1938, in Queens, NY, she was the daughter of Wilhelmina (Barg) Stellmann of Hawley and the late George Stellmann. Formerly of Richmond Hill, Queens, NY, she was a retired clerk for the NYC Sanitation Department. She had been a resident of Tink Wig for 20 years. Carol was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. In addition to her husband and mother, she is survived by two daughters: JoAnne Herzog and her husband Mark of Harrington Park, NJ, and Carole Anne Hertzberg and her husband David of Westbury, LI, NY; a son: Joseph P. Jr. and his wife Mary Ann of Honesdale, PA; a sister: Helen Cavanaugh of Hawley; a brother: Walter Stellmann and his wife Nancy of Lake Ronkonkoma, NY; a brother-in-law: Frank Cavanaugh of Howard Beach, Queens, NY; and eight grandchildren: Franca, Alexa, Gianna, Michelle, Nicole, Kyla, Jack and Cali. Calling hours will be Tuesday, Sept. 28, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM at Teeters' East Chapel, 505 Church St, Hawley, PA. The Funeral Mass will be Wednesday, Sept. 29, at 10:00 AM at BVM Queen Of Peace Roman Catholic Church, 314 Chestnut Ave, Hawley, celebrated by Father Irudaya Illuri, Assistant Pastor. Friends and neighbors going to the service are asked to go directly to the church. Private cremation will be held at Lake Region Crematory, Lake Ariel. Memorials may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or donors@stjude.org Her wish was for gifts to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital because she said, "Children need the help more than us old folks. We have lived our lives and they are just starting theirs."
