Obituary of Joseph L. Chinchar

Joseph L. Chinchar, age 84, of Aspen Ridge, Hawley, died Monday, July 11, 2011, at Wayne Memorial Hospital, Honesdale. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, the former Anne Marie Malinski. Joe was born January 26, 1927, in Tuscarora, PA, and was the son of the late John and Helen (Brennan) Chinchar. After graduating high school, he served in the US Army. He was a graduate of PA State Police Academy in 1955 and served for 30 years with the PA State Police as a criminal investigator. After retirement, he was a Wayne County Sheriff's Deputy and was later employed by the Wayne Bank. Formerly of Inverness, FL, and Honesdale, he had been a member of BVM Queen of Peace RC Church and the Knights of Columbus in Honesdale. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters: Vicki Williams of Griffin, GA, and Mary Ann Olver and her husband Keith of Hawley; three sons: John and his wife Linda of Zephyrhills, FL, Joseph and his wife Christina of Waymart and Frank and his wife Carol of Tampa, FL; two twin sisters: Ann Smith and Marie Kupetz; ten grandchildren: Branden, Jacob, Justin, Veronica, Joseph III, Danny, Dylan, Graceanne, William and Juliana; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Daniel and John. Calling hours will be Thursday, July 14, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM at Teeters' East Chapel, 505 Church St, Hawley, PA. There will be a Funeral Mass on Friday, July 15, at 10:00 AM at BVM Queen Of Peace Roman Catholic Church, 314 Chestnut Ave, Hawley, with Rev. Richard W. Beck officiating. Private cremation was held at Lake Region Crematory, Lake Ariel, with interment at BVM Queen of Peace Cemetery following the Mass. Friends and family are asked to go directly to the church for the Mass.
