Dear Mrs. Box,
I remember you as my 3rd grade teacher back in 93'. I would run into your classroom and give you a big hug each and every morning. I always thought and still think til this very day you were my nicest teacher. You always had a smile every day, you always took time to listen to all of your students problems and were always understanding. You always knew just what to say whenever a student was having such a bad day. You will trulty be missed by all and always remebered by people who knew you. God Bless and may you rest in peace.

Anita lived her life to make the world a better place for everyone she encountered as well as humankind at large. Always ready to put a positive spin on even the most difficult circumstances, she was conscientious in the extreme and effervescent at the same time. Always fair and open minded, Anita strived to help every student to reach their full potential. Brilliant yet full of humility,a bright light has been extinguished. She will be greatly missed, but never forgotten.

Oh Anita - I am so sorry you have left us all much too soon. I loved our chats and always much laughter whenever we were together in school. Sharing the many gifted children we had over the years was wonderful - your zest for life and lifelong learning was a gift beyond measure to those children whose lives you touched and all of the 'grown-ups' too! I will miss the opportunity to have some play time with you. My love to your family...whose loss is immeasurable...but whose gifts from you are enormous.

I will never be able to sufficiently express how much Mrs. Box's passion, dedication, excitement for teaching, excitement for learning, and most of all, her love for life influenced me. I will always remember the lessons I learned from her, especially about giving back to the community and spreading joy to others. She was a sweetheart who leaves a legacy that echoes her warm and compassionate spirit. She will be sorely missed, but some solace is taken in that she is walking amongst angels now. I finish with a quote introduced to me in elementary school by Mrs. Box herself: “Live as if you were to die tomorrow. Learn as if you were to live forever.” - Mahatma Gandhi

The Wallenpaupack School District and community have suffered a great loss. It was my distinct honor and pleasure to work with Anita for many years. I know of no one who was more dedicated to the students she taught. She inspired both her students and also those of us who worked with her. My last rememberance of your mom was at my mom's funeral mass. I thought to myself how great Anita looked and how thoughtful and kind and caring it was of her to come with you, Jodi. You both touched my heart immensely. I only got to say a few sentences to your mom that day, however, I did get to give her a kiss and hug. We are so, so, very sorry of mom's passing. She has been in my prayers every night. My prayers, love, and sympathy go out to you, Jen, and your families. We are so very sorry for your heartbreak and loss. Anita was a wonderful teacher. She worked with some of the smartest students I knew, and she pushed them farther than they'd been pushed before. I learned a lot from her, but mostly that brains and thoughts and theories are only as good as the passion that drives them. Thank you, for the faith, and for the passion.

Some of my fondest childhood memories are of visits. to/from Aunt Bev, Uncle Steve & and Anita and Stevie. My cousins always brought fun and excitement.
Although we saw little of each other in later years I still recall Anita's wonderful, engaging voice on the phone. Hr smil, as many have said was so genuine and open it was impossible not to feel comfortable and comforted in her presence.
My thoughts tonight are with her family, especially her beautiful daughters. She was taken way too soon and will be missed by all who knew her.
Love to Bev, Steve and all the girls.

Mrs. Box appears in my memories exactly as she does in this picture: sharing a wam smile. Her passion as an educator was unquestionable. I think that the profound effect that Mrs. Box had on her students can be illustrated through the memories that they hold. I cannot remember a single day of lecture from many of my high school classes, and yet I can still distinctly remember our "archaeology" project in second grade. She brought in garbage cans from various classrooms throughout the building and instructed us to think critically to identify where each garbage can came from. She taught me to think critically and intuitively, but more importantly, she taught me to love learning.

Deepest condolences to all family members and friends!
