Dear sweet, kind, and loving Clem is my husband's uncle since I married into that wonderful Wishneski family in 2008. We always visited Clem and his wife Mary, son Matthew and his wife Teresa every summer when we came to visit. Mary always spoiled us with desserts and dinner, and Clem always had that amazing smile, easy going manner, and gentle spirit. I do believe God will have a new fisher of men since Clem loved to fish. I will miss him deeply as he was a wonderful addition to my new family! God bless you Clem, I will miss you dearly.
I loved you
Peg

Clem was my best friend Matt's father. He was one of the nicest guys I've ever known. He loved fishing. Better yet he loved taking other people fishing. Me and my brother's all fished with Clem as kids. We will all miss him and never forget him. I could only wish that every kid could have someone like Clem to take them fishing.

I am so sorry of Clem’s passing; he was such a kind and giving person. I will never forget the memories of the Wishneski family sharing their vacation time with my two brothers Adam, Aaron and I. It left me with lifelong memories that I still cherish to this day.
Clem helped instilled in me my love for fishing. During those summer mornings on lake Wallenpaupack Clem took me under his wing and showed me what a fishing buddy is all about, the old school way. Two people spending an entire morning in a 16ft boat together and not saying anymore than “pass me the coffee” and “get the net!” and somehow, it made one the best memories.
One of my favorite fishing memories is the morning the “big one” was caught…
Clem always got us excited telling us fish stories about the big musky and walleye that swim in the very waters we would be fishing. It kept me up all night just wondering what we would catch the next day. So that morning in the dark I was digging around in the cooler that was filled with burlap and hellgrammites. I still have scars on my fingertips to this day as I’m not sure what hurts more, getting pinched by one of those damn bugs or hooking yourself. Have you ever noticed how well those bugs can hide in burlap? Anyway, Clem was talking about how long it’s been since he caught a walleye while we were loading the boat. I guess he had a bit of dry spell with landing this elusive fish. As we motored away from the dock he again began telling me his fish stories from the past.
At about day break we dropped the lines in the water. Clem the old pro could just drop lines in and kick back, but I couldn’t take my eyes off my rod tip nor sit still. The usually suspects showed up...a few football fat yellow perch and some nice 2.5 lb smallmouths, but I could see Clem was getting restless. He said we are moving to deeper water so we reeled up the lines and headed out to a spot where a few large boats were anchored.
Clem begins rummaging around in his old metal tackle box and I thought wow I had never seen a working metal tackle box before and with so many odd looking lures in that old thing. He pulls this spinner rig that looked more like a homemade bracelet; it was the legendary walleye death spinner that Clem spoke of!
I knew the old man was taking off the gloves now! He must have known something was happening in the depths below that morning. So with a giant night crawler hooked to this crazy looking spinner, I watched the master go to work. He began to slow troll while watching the channel markers. I couldn’t tell if he was getting hits with how much his rod was bending from dragging that spinner rig. Then all of sudden this old guy moves like a cat, and in a flash he’s up and setting the hook!! The rod doubles over, and Clem is on it like a scene from the old man in the sea. I swear he was talking to the fish at one point. By the quickness in his moves I could see that he was not fighting this fish like it was perch. And by all the drag getting pulled I knew it was not a perch. I was amazed how this guy came alive during this battle. Then he yelled the words that eco in my head to this very day rang out. I then realized that I was just called onto the stage of this epic performance between master angler and who knows what type of beast. Fear struck me as the words rang out again in the heavy morning air. My brain finally clicks on as I processed the words “GET THE NET”. I tripped over my rods and dove to the rear of the boat. Grabbing everything first that looked like the net before rising it victoriously over my head handing it towards Clem. He turns to me with a look like get over here now and I realized that my role is not over yet. I jump to my feet and race to the side of the boat and all I can see is a large yellow flash coming up from the depths. I then hear Clem say in a shaky voice, “it’s a huge walleye!” I then remember how long it’s been since he caught one, so I began to prey I don’t screw this net job up. Then we see the beast’s pale eyes looking at us and teeth any large pike would be proud to show. I never saw a live walleye before that moment. Clem was still moving like a flinching cat at play, his eyes just as wide and says I’ll lead him your way. I drop the net making sure it’s plume is as big as possible and the exhausted beast surrenders to the net. I then heave its mass over the side of the boat and we both watch in a bit of disbelief as the hook fly’s out of that toothy mouth. Clem just smiled and said you got that net under him just in time.
Clem was a different man on that trip back to the dock. He wasn’t that old man I fished with that morning. He was once again that 14 year old kid that must have been fishing this lake long before I was around. He moved quicker, talked faster and smiled the whole time he cleaned the fish with great care.
Those days I spent on that lake with Clem taught me a lot about fishing. It showed me that fishing has so much more to it. It’s a getaway we can create for ourselves. It erases time, worries and heals and strengthens your soul. Clem lived a great life. And I have no doubt that even at 80 he still moved like a cat when something big was on his line.
I’ll smile and think of Clem every time I hear the words “Get the net”, or when someone yells ouch while trying to hook a hellgrammite, and of course when I’m 80 yrs old and move like a cat with a big fish on the line. I am sure we’ll fish together again someday old friend.

I'm the brother of Adam and Anthony D'Andrea and was also blessed to spend time fishing and vacationing with the Wishneski family. My most heart felt symphony to all who loved and knew Clem! Mary God bless you for inviteing and trying to feed the three of us. I was the third wheel that my older brother Adam and his best bud Matt would torment when the fishing was slow. After reading my younger brother Tony's memories I was tearing eye and a bit jealous. I can truly say being as my wife would say a typically unemotional man that caughting that big fish will excite you soul like you just won the power ball lotto. So Mr. W fish hard! With that said I hope those celebrating Clem's life in the next days know that Clem made a big impact in are lives for the short visits we had with him. God Bless you all!
