Obituary of Janet A. Fucci

On January 26, 1927, the world was blessed with the arrival of Janet Ansley Fucci, who passed away September 6, 2016. Janet was born in Paupack to Leonard and Marguerite Lillian (Correll) Ansley, whose long family heritage stretched back to 1774. The Ansley Homestead is one of the oldest homes in Paupack. They were farmers, who later turned the home into a bed and breakfast. Janet and her two sisters, Marion Isabel "Diz" Lukacinsky and Clarissa "Kitty" Ansley, helped with the cooking and everything that needed to be done. After graduating from Hawley High School, Class of 1944, she attended Westchester State Teacher's College where she met Vincent Fucci. They were married on November 25, 1947, and had three children, Terry (Jung), Sandy (Connell) and Vinnie. She had a long, rich, interesting life in New Village, NJ, as a teacher at Holland Township School, where she retired in 1987 after a 25 year career. She was a member of all four New Jersey educational associations. Among the many qualities of her complex life, she was a loyal friend to many, a loving Christian, a quilter, a fabulous cook, a musician, a gardener, a great dancer and an avid Yankees fan. She loved nature and all the birds and deer that visited her backyard. Her flower gardens were lovely. Playing 500 rummy or pinochle, she made other players her victims, taking no prisoners. She loved to make people laugh and had a unique talent for storytelling and sharing jokes. She had a wonderful sense of humor. She liked to say she "ran on hugs." Her hours were spent volunteering at the Wallenpaupack Historical Society and the Paupack United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the choir and had been the organist from 1986-1988. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Paupack United Methodist Church Food Pantry, PO Box 335, Route 507, Paupack, PA 18451. Her Memorial Service will be held at the Paupack United Methodist Church, Route 507, Paupack, on Sunday, September 11, at 2 PM, followed by burial of her urn in Pine Grove Cemetery, Paupack. Janet's family would like to give thanks to her daily caregiver, Sherri Stauffer, all her friends, family members and Wayne Memorial Hospice for their loving care along the way.
