Obituary of Alvina Barton

Alvina Barton, age 78, of Hawley and formerly of Queens, NY, died Tuesday, March 19, 2019 at home.

Mrs. Barton was born April 10, 1940 in Queens, NY and was the daughter of the late Peter and Alvina (Custor) Hirt. She was predeceased by her husband, George F. Barton, Sr. on February 07, 2003.

Alvina retired as a special education administrative assistant for the NYC Board of Education in 2000. She loved traveling, shopping, gardening, sewing and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

She is survived by one daughter: Susan & her husband, Charles Martin of Hawley, PA and two sons: George Barton, Jr. & his wife, Dianne of Hawley, PA and Michael & his wife, Stacie Barton of Lords Valley, PA, two sisters: Lois Beck of Hawley, PA and Carolyn Hirt of Hawley, PA, and two brothers: Peter Hirt of Lancaster, PA and Raymond Hirt of Massapequa, NY, nine grandchildren, Joey Martin, Andrew Martin, Kristopher Martin, Celina & her husband, Tim Katsch, Ariel Martin, Meaghan Martin, Samantha & her husband, Rob Tryson, Sean Barton, Alanna Barton, eight great grandchildren, Desaray, Andrew, Tatianna, Layla, Mason, Dominick, Christian and Payton.

Visitation will be held Monday, March 25, 2019 from 2-4 PM and 7-8:30 PM at Teeters' East Chapel, 505 Church St, Hawley, followed by a prayer service at 8:30 PM.

Cremation will be at Lake Region Crematory in Lake Ariel.
