Like the many before me that posted, I too, met Paul with Batesville Casket. He was always kind, thoughtful, considerate, funny, and such a gentleman to work with. He made my long days of work, more tolerable, He sure loved his family! Many wonderful stories of the love he shared for them. I want you to know that his loss will be throughout a company that loved and respected him. May God bring comfort and peace to you all. You will be in my thoughts and prayers...asking God to hold you close during this transition.

Paul was delightful to know and to work with. Always positive, always upbeat, always fun. And he loved good food and fine wine! Like at Bookbinders in Philadelphia. Wow, we had some great times at company meetings. Paul was outstanding as a leader, he thought things through carefully and made decisions in the best interest of everyone. He was dedicated to the sales team, our clients, and the company. Paul added a lot to my life and my career and I will forever treasure my memories of him.

Some thoughts about Paul.
It was hard to not be in Paul’s presence and not be happy. He was always smiling and he had an enthusiasm which was contagious.
I remember a red Lexus coupe he had. Once we were going on a short ride and I asked to ride with Paul so I could experience the car. That car was so nice!
When I joined Batesville, Paul was so helpful to me. Without him, the learning curve would have been much steeper. One day in February 2013, Paul and I were traveling together listening to the golf tournament on the radio. Phil Mickelson lipped out on the final hole for a 59. Watching Paul cheer in the car was as if he was there in the gallery.
My forever memory of Paul will be practice swinging in the rough on the 17th hole at Pine Valley. Grass was flying everywhere. And Paul was smiling determined to get his ball back to the fairway.

MaryAnn and I send our deepest condolences. Paul and I were friends when he worked as a Rep in upstate New York. He hired me a few years later when he was Vice President of sales. He was a great leader that always helped us to succeed and have a lot of fun along the way. He will be missed by everyone.

Paul was the funniest cousin my sister Pepper and I ever had. Although we lived 60 miles apart during our childhood, we always looked forward to seeing our cousins, Paul and Gayle, in Sioux Falls! Life separated us even further, but I’ve never forgotten the Theesfelds. Our thoughts are with your family at this difficult time.

Dear Gayle and family,
Paul was a wonderful man. He meant everything to me at Batesville. He was willing to take a chance on an Italian kid with no funeral experience and put him in West Virginia. Somehow, he knew it would work. Paul taught us all to enjoy our work and to enjoy life. And that is what I will remember most about Paul. He saw the best in all of us and lived life to the fullest.
God bless you.

Dear Gayle and family,
I was deeply saddened to learn of Paul’s death. Those of us who had careers with Batesville never gave much thought to our own demise, yet alas, we are not immune.
Paul was my regional manager for a number of years. I respected and learned much from him. When Paul would travel with me, at the end of a day of sales calls, I always had a restaurant in mind as I knew that we were both ready for several cocktails and a great meal!
Paul was one of “the good ones”. Genuine, professional, one who had “ been in the trenches” and who loved to sell “GOOD” caskets ( as did we all! )
God bless you all as you celebrate this good and decent man.
With happy memories and warm regards,
Brian Gillespie

Dear Gayle and Family,
As so many of us know Paul was an amazing individual .His smile ,his manner with life and work, and how he welcomed so many to whatever event was going on at the time .He made you feel wanted.
I loved how after a good meal he would always "wear" a little bit of it on his shirt!
He enjoyed life, his family ,the boat ,playing golf and his dog!
I see Paul passed on August 13th.....he left this world the same day (8/13) that
two other great men did also .Those being Mickey Mantle and my Dad , Jack Hughes.....Paul is now with guys that were legends to me growing up...…..right where he belongs.
God Bless Paulie . We loved ya Man.

I’m so very sorry for your loss. I had the pleasure of working with Paul for 4 years in the Metro Sales Region. He always had a smile on his face. He also knew where all the great diners were in NY and NJ. ;). He will be missed!

Deepest sympathies to Gayle and family.
Worked with Paul at Batesville. And like many of that era, there are shared memories of triumphs, trials and much laughter. Paul’s laughter was his hallmark. He contributed much to Batesville and will not be forgotten. Rest in peace friend.

I met Paul 35+ years ago as a result of being a Funeral Director in Northern Virginia. Our firm bought many Batesville Caskets and Paul was the Supervisor over our Salesman. He had a very giving spirit, and when years later, I wasn't buying a large volume of Batesville's, Paul still treated me the same; glad to see me, "come have dinner with us", remembering very funny experiences and always brightening whatever environment he was a part of. I'm glad I could call him a friend. Godspeed Paul.
