I was saddened, yet grateful, upon reading today of Tom’s passing last August. Saddened, for Beverly and the Simon family And grateful to have known Tom as a neighbor and friend. My wife, Mary Beth, and I bought a house on Simons Point around 2005, two doors down from Tom and Beverly. Being from Downingtown, PA., and brand new to Hawley and Lake Wallenpaupack, Tom was like a big brother to us. He stored our dock each winter, but also gave us advice on so many things. Who to talk to about something, where to go to, or find or see something. “You oughta go check this out, tell them Tom sent you.” We liked coming to the lake for our wedding anniversary, April 16th. Tom always made sure or dock was in place, (usually the only dock on the lake at that early date) so we could enjoy and celebrate that week. We always felt he was looking out for us. Tom and his brother Paul were so good to us during our time there. He had great stories about his grandkids. Thank you, Tom, and Beverly and Paul. Mary Beth and I will miss him. I want to send my sincere condolences to the whole family. Mr. Simons was an absolute joy to be around. I had him as my math teacher in high school and he made learning extremely fun. Upon graduating, I seen him countless times outside of school and everytime I seen him, he knew me by name. I have great find memories of Bear. He will be deeply missed and never forgotten. Rest in peace my good man. Until we meet again.

It is with a heavy heart that I read of the passing of Tommy "Bear" Simons. It is sometimes said "you'll never meet another (X), because God made only 1 then broke the mold" That saying most certainly applies to Thomas Simons. I knew Tommy well-back from the late 1960's through 1984 when I left Tafton for Los Angeles, CA. Tommy was a model, mentor, inspiration and a tremendous help to me in my formative years, always there to lend an attentive ear, guidance (only when requested), or a helping hand (never seeking recognition) I could go on and on. Tommy packed a lot of life into 78 short years here among us (Son/Husband/Father/Grandfather/Community Leader/Church Elder/School Teacher/Multi-Sport Coach/Township Supervisor/Land Surveyor/Businessman/Volunteer Fireman&Fire Company Chief) just to name a few of the hats that he wore.
Peace be eternal to Thomas Simons for a spectacular job now finished here on earth, and may God's gentle hand and watchful eye provide strength, love, comfort, guidance and protection over all of Tommy's extended Family, Friends and Loved Ones.
It is truly a Privilege and Honor to be able to say Thomas Simons was a friend of mine.

Dear Family of Tom Simons,
I grew up near the Simons’ on Lake Wallenpaupack, close friend to Tom’s sister, Marilyn, and acquainted with Paul and Tom through grade and high school. Many memories of Tom helping my parents put in and take out their dock every season. My Dad, Bruce Worrell, especially appreciated Tom’s humor and good work. Tom gave much of his energy and expertise to his community and church in many ways, as well as for his beloved family. May memories give you comfort during this time of deep loss.
Prayers and heartfelt condolences,
Sherry Worrell Rosenberg

Dear Bev and family, My heart is breaking as I know yours is also. Rest assured knowing that Tom is now safely in the arms of Jesus. Tom was a pillar of our St Paul's church. I relied on him many times and he always helped with a smile on his face in a gentle, loving way. He and my husband, Willie, sat together every Sunday after church to have coffee and cake. They are now having coffee together in heaven. Please know that you are in the thoughts and prayers of your St. Paul's Lutheran Church family. May our Lord surround you with love, comfort and peace. Keep the faith! Gail Endorf

Bev, it saddened me greatly to hear of your loss. Bear obviously lived a life that affected many in a beautiful, positive way. You and your family were very blessed, as was he to have such a dear family.
He will surely be missed by the many people he was still involved with in his many activities. His absence will be palpable at Tafton Fire Company meetings and Outings.
May your and your family’s happy memories with him sustain you and bring you comfort.
Mike and I are very sorry for your loss. God bless you all and may Bear rest in the peace of Christ.
