Obituary of Thomas A. Simons

Thomas A. "Bear" Simons, age 78, a lifelong resident of Tafton died Tuesday, August 3, 2021 at Regional Hospital Of Scranton. Mr. Simons was born July 25,1943 in Honesdale, PA and was the son of the late Leonard T. and Louise (Black) Simons. He was a math teacher by Wallenpaupack Area High School, where he also coached soccer and track & field. Tom also worked as a surveyor with Schnoengel and operated Simons Dock Service. A member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, he served as Council President, taught confirmation and Sunday school classes. He was a Palmyra Pike Township Supervisor for 50 years and was chairman for many years. A 53-year life member of Tafton Fire & Rescue and was chief clamman at the Tafton outing and was a member of Ski Big Bear ski patrol. He is survived by his wife: Beverly (Jezercak) Simons, four daughters: Tracy & husband, Dean Rutledge of Tyler Hill, PA, Cyndi & husband, Christopher Broadhead of Hawley, PA, Amie & husband, Mike Lang of Parsippany, NJ and Casey & husband, Chad Evans of Butler, AL, and one son: Jeff & wife, Lisa Frindt of Hawley, PA; ten grandchildren, Devin, Olivia, Cheyenne, Alex, Aaryn, Ashton, Kami, Madisyn, CJ & Ashleah; one great granddaughter, Layla; one sister: Marilyn Lyman of Tafton, PA and one brother: Paul & wife, Bobbie Simons of Tafton, PA; one niece and one nephew. Calling hours will be Thursday, August 12th from 3 to 7 PM at Teeters' Funeral Chapel, 505 Church St, Hawley, PA. The funeral will be Friday, August 13th at 11 am at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 405 Church St., Hawley with Pastor Adam C. Reinhardt officiating. Cremation will be at Lake Region Crematory in Lake Ariel with inurnment in Pine Grove Cemetery at a later date.
