Barbara'Ann Therese Uzupes, age 67, of Hawley passed away with her loving children and family by her side on Monday, November 8, 2021, at Wayne Memorial Hospital, Honesdale. She was preceded in death by her husband of 29 years, Robert Anthony Uzupes, in 2018. Born July 10, 1954, in Brooklyn, NY, she was the daughter of the late Francis H. and Barbara (Thomas) McConnell. She worked as a legal secretary until her retirement and was a member of Wallenpaupack Free Methodist Church. Bobbi, as she was known to many, enjoyed spending time with her family. She loved listening to her grandchildren's laughter, watching them play, and discover things for themselves as they grew. She loved watching the expression on their faces as Papa told one of his many, many tales. She loved the sound of wind chimes in the breeze and watching the hummingbirds. She had a passion for crafting dollhouses, designing and decorating several. She enjoyed evenings by the campfire, stargazing and enjoying the company of those around her. She was very caring and compassionate, and many found comfort in her words, in her friendship, and in her love. She is survived by her children: Lisa Podhany Slish and her husband Michael Slish of Honesdale, Cheryl Podhany and her fiance’ Gerardo Reyes of Scranton, Carin Podhany and her fiance’ August Opalek of Blakely, Vinson Uzupes of Honesdale, and Vanessa Uzupes and her husband Mark Owens of Naples, FL; five sisters: Linda Nutt McCandless of Hamburg, PA, Diana Fusco of Ocean, NJ, Susan DeAngelis of Sparrowbush, NY, Rose'Ann Orkin of Hawley, and April Nutt of Silsbee, TX; two brothers: Thomas McConnell of Sparrowbush, NY and Edward McConnell of Tempe, AZ; eleven grandchildren: Kaitlyn Roman, Taylor Slish, Matthew Reyes, Ava Slish, Emma Uzupes-Owens, Gianna Opalek, Evan Reyes, Nathan Owens, Faith Slish, Nicholas Opalek, and Jacob Reyes; and a new great granddaughter: Alayna Hadden. A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 PM on November 20, 2021, at Teeters' East Chapel, 505 Church St, Hawley with Rev. Ken Platt of Wallenpaupack Free Methodist Church officiating.
