The moment I first met Rod, I knew I was going to like him. I was considering buying a unit in his same complex and went on a surveillance mission.
When I arrived, Rod was unloading items from his car. I asked “Do you live here? He answered “yes “. I asked how he liked it. He answered “I don’t know, it’s my first day here!” We both laughed.
Rod has always been a good neighbor and a good friend, always greeting everyone with his ready smile.
He was an avid churchgoer, who actively lived his religion. He was true role model for his large and wonderful family.
Rod was also a skilled mechanic. I had bought one of those fence post American flags. It was SPECIAL because it was handmade by a local 92 year old veteran. I didn’t really have a proper place to display it, so, I unceremoniously parked it on a built in planter that is part of our CoOp building.
Rod devised a system using eye hooks and fishing line (as not to damage the siding on the building) and artfully and expertly hung the flag, now seen in it’s proper glory. This flag is now TWICE as SPECIAL !
