I have innumerable fond memories of spending time with my Uncle Phil throughout my childhood and later years: Festive Christmas Eves in his Brooklyn home overflowing with family and friends (first the pasta & booze, then conversation & booze, next the turkey, trimmings, booze, and more conversation, and finally coffee, dessert, and booze (and let's not forget the endless cigarette smoking!); playing and causing chaos with my favorite cousins, Lori and Phyllis; laughing when Uncle fill blew his Italian top at Phyllis while she unsuccessfully tried to stifle a laugh; going to Riis Park with my dad and watching my uncle play handball (terrific at sports); appreciating him coming to my home to install doors - amazingly handy; watching him entertain my dad, his much-loved older brother, with boyhood memories and hilarious stories - he alone had the unique gift of gracing my dad with complete relaxation.
Thank you dear uncle for loving me, your nephew - even through these many years apart.
Did you know you were the only one who called me Dino 99% of the time?
You're now reunited with my wonderful Aunt Dolores and beloved Phyllis, as well as your dad, mom, brothers, and all your loved ones.
