Hey Miske, Wow my friend. We hadn't talked for a while and my emails were returned as undeliverable and I assumed you had dropped off the internet. In the last month I had tried to call you and I just would get a recording that were unable to complete the call and I knew something was wrong. I just ran your name (goggle) with Greentown, PA and saw your obituary and my worst fears were confirmed. We gave it one hell of a ride and were able to squeeze our many more years than many of the Marines and Corpsman than we served with my friend.
Miske and I served together in Vietnam with 2nd platoon, Delta Company, 1st. Battalion, 4th Marines. Miske didn't leave anything on the table when I knew him, he lived life to the fullest. My favorite story was when I found him in 2000 he told me after Vietnam he was stationed in the Philippines, but it could have been Okinawa (I can't remember for sure which) and when liberty call was sounded he went to town and often didn't return to the base until he ran out of money which often would be a few days later. His Company Commander was the same CO we had in Vietnam, so this gave him a little pull and some slack. After the first time the skipper called him in and told him that he was putting him a bad spot by not returning from liberty on time and that many knew that they served together in Vietnam and he couldn't do that any more or he would be forced to take some kind of action. It wasn't long after that it was the same song and Miske returned a couple of days late, once he was broke. When the skipper called him in Miske told him that he gets to drinking and having a good time and just couldn't help it and it was OK to do whatever he needed to do, there would be no hard feelings, the only thing that he felt bad about was putting the skipper in a bad spot.
Miske, take care of yourself Marine and say hi to all of the other Marines and Corpsmen that have gone before us my friend. Until we see each other again, Semper Fi. Ralph Schroder

I am so sorry for your loss!! Your Dad was so supportive of me growing up. Made sure to keep me in line and out of trouble while “exploring” the trailer park!! So many good memories. I remember him being a giant of a man with such a gentle voice!!
