Obituary of Arthur Paul MacDonald

Arthur Paul MacDonald, 77, of Tafton died Saturday, April 1, 2023, at Wayne Memorial Hospital Honesdale. Born November 20, 1945, in Passaic, NJ, Art was the son of the late Gordon Fullerton MacDonald, and Eugenia Vittoria (Brizzolari) MacDonald. He served in the US Navy from 1963 to 1965. He is survived by his spouse, Mary Hovanec of Tafton, and two sons: Randy MacDonald of Meriden NH, and Anthony MacDonald of Tafton. He was preceded in death by his four siblings: Douglas, Gordon JR, Norman, and Jean (Paulson). He owned and operated Art’s Auto Body in Tafton, and had previously owned Art’s Auto Craft in Wayne NJ. In addition to his expertise in this field, Art had an active Real Estate and property business with his partner, Mary. Art generously helped many over the years to attain their dream of home ownership, when conventional means were not available. His great love was spending time his two sons, Randy and Anthony. Art also enjoyed hunting and working at his gentleman’s farm in Lowman, New York. Almost every Friday he would head to “the farm” with his beloved Labrador retriever, Bella, riding shotgun. He also enjoyed his comradery with old friends, hunting at their club, Ken-Mar in Pa. During the week you could find Arty at “the corner”, treating all to his unique perspective and quick wit. We will all miss, at the end of the workday, seeing Art, catching up on the news of the day, the tales of past adventures, and plans for new ones. Art, may you laugh, enjoy nature, and the love and respect of your family and friends as you embark on this last adventure. God’s speed….
