My Mom, Emma Collins, and I have been blessed to have Marie, Bob, and their family as neighbors for almost 50 years in Lords Valley. Marie was a most kind and caring, intelligent and knowledgeable woman with a great sense of humor. She was a very special friend and we will miss her terribly. Lords Valley will not be the same without her presence. I am so sorry she had to leave us on earth too soon, but she will live on in our happy memories.

Marie was such a kind and wonderful person. I always loved seeing her. When I was little she let me borrow her VHS tapes of several classic movies, including My Fair Lady, which I absolutely adored. I'll always remember her as an amazing, kind woman and she will be missed!

My Grandmother
When I sit here to try to capture words on paper of memories of my grandmother, there are flooding amounts of lessons learned and stories to tell. She was always present, my foundation, a safe place, consistently cheering me on and reminding me to push boundaries, be bold and brave make new waves, forge new paths learn from our history and carve out a new future. She would guide me in her own way through book. I could always remember a book in her hand and reading, absorbing words off pages, diving into worlds and lives of others. My strongest memory is my shared loved of books with her. We would read them together, share our thoughts, passion, and sometimes read them again, again together. Every time I pick up a book or wonder into a book store I will always remember her love of reading and see her sitting with coffee and a book in her hand.
“The world was hers for the reading.” — Betty Smith
