Josephine Ann "JoAnn" Seiler, age 81, a lifelong resident of Hawley, died Monday, May 22, 2023, at Wayne Woodlands Manor, Waymart. Born November 19, 1941, in Honesdale, JoAnn was the daughter of the late Roland Joseph and Margaret J. (Morgan) Seiler. JoAnn earned her bachelor's degree in elementary education from East Stroudsburg State College. She began her teaching career in Matamoras in the Delaware Valley School District. After changing to Wallenpaupack Area School District, she taught for many years at Lackawaxen Elementary, until moving to the Wallenpaupack North Primary School after it was opened. She spent the last years of her teaching career as a reading specialist. She is survived by one brother: Richard J. Seiler and his wife Julie of Hawley; her niece: Rebecca Rose Seiler of Pittsburgh; and her nephew: Roland Jordan Seiler of Hawley. Calling hours will be Friday, May 26, from 1 to 3 PM at Teeters' Funeral Chapel, Inc., 505 Church St, Hawley, PA. The funeral will follow at 3:00 PM at the funeral home with Deacon Paul J. Cooper officiating. Burial will be in B.V.M. Queen of Peace Cemetery, Hawley. Memorials may be made to Dessin Animal Shelter, 138 Miller Rd., Honesdale, PA 18431 or BVM Queen Of Peace Roman Catholic Church, 314 Chestnut Ave, Hawley, PA 18428.
