Obituary of Sara Kathryn Moffitt

Please share a memory of Sara to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
With deep sorrow and much love, we mourn the passing of Sara K. (Evans) Moffitt, age 45, of Estero, FL. Sara passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, June 28, 2023. Born on April 16, 1978, in Scranton, PA, she was the wife of Adam Moffitt and daughter of J. Dennis Evans and the late Peggy (McGinnis) Evans. In addition to Adam and Dennis, she is survived by two children, Keely and Alex Moffitt; a sister, Erin Anke, wife of Chad Anke; nieces and nephew Kaylan, Paige, Finn, and Ella; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and in-laws that will miss her eternally. A fiercely loyal and loving person, Sara also leaves behind too many beloved friends to mention by name. Sara was a graduate of Wallenpaupack High School in 1996 and attended the University of South Carolina. She began her career at Worthington Distribution where she reconnected with Adam, a life-long friend. Following in the footsteps of her father, she held a number of roles in accounting, including bookkeeping for their family business for 10 years. Most recently she was the AR/AP Manager at Banks Engineering in Ft. Meyers, FL. In conjunction with these accomplishments, her most cherished role in life was as a mother and wife, raising her children and creating a loving household for her family in Telluride, Highlands Ranch and Larkspur, CO., and finally in Estero, FL. Forever committed to her Catholic faith, Sara received all of her sacraments at BVM Queen of Peace Church in Hawley, PA, the same familiar church where she married Adam in 2005. She volunteered in her children’s activities including numerous school functions, Girl Scouts of America, and at the local churches where she belonged. Outside of devoting most of her time to her children, Sara loved her cats, going to the beach, fishing, and golfing. She was a member of the Perry Park Country Club in Larkspur, CO for 7 years where she honed her golfing skills and shared a love for the game with Adam (when she played well). That commitment to golf was exemplified by her loyalty to those whom she loved selflessly. Sara will be remembered as being beautiful, kind, compassionate, selfless, and loved by all. She had a magnetic personality that led her to connect with so many throughout her life. She always had a smile on her face, was quick to make a joke, or be the first to laugh at yours. Sara loved to sing, and others surely loved to listen. Her parents were so proud of her performances on stage at WAHS. Her husband and children were calmed by her soothing lullabies. Her friends enjoyed her belting songs from any karaoke machine she could find. Erin and Sara next to the piano was a holiday delight. We will all miss this one-of-a-kind soul, and her kindness every day now and forever. Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate her life. A visitation will be held on Sunday, July 9th from 2:00PM to 5:00PM at Teeters’ Funeral Chapel, 505 Church St. Hawley, PA. A mass of Christian burial will be on Monday, July 10th at 10:00AM at B.V.M. Queen of Peace Roman Catholic Church, 314 Chestnut Ave, Hawley, PA. Interment will be at Queen of Peace Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in her name to the Muscular Dystrophy Association at mda.donordrive.com.
