Obituary of George Price Cabel

George Price Cabel, age 78, of Tafton died Wednesday, October 11, 2023, at Regional Hospital of Scranton. He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Janet (Crane) Cabel, in 2019. Born April 4, 1945, in Boonton, NJ, George was the son of the late Clarence and Eugenia (Price) Cabel. He was the owner and operator of Cabel Associates LLC, a trucking company. Formerly of Lake Hopatcong, NJ, George and his family had a second home in Paradise Point, Lakeville since 1972, but became full time residents of Tafton in 1989. He was a member of BVM Queen Of Peace Roman Catholic Church, 314 Chestnut Ave, Hawley, PA 18428. As hardworking as he was generous, he was the first to offer help to anyone in need. More than anything, however, he was dedicated to his family. He is survived by one daughter: Bonnie Rotella and her husband Paul of Tafton; one son: George Michael Cabel and his fiancée Jamie Penyak of Tafton; two brothers: Carl Cabel and his wife Cheryl of Delaware and Patrick Cabel of Boonton, NJ; his grandchildren: Schawn-Paul Rotella and his wife Jenny, Aris Rotella and his wife Laura, Billy Rotella and fiancée Jackie Jordan, George Michael Cabel Jr., George Michael Yurkovitch and fiancée Erika Pokrivsak, Kathleen Yurkovitch and fiancé Kole Pokrivsak and Kevin Yurkovitch; and his great grandchildren: Scarlett, Everett, Quinton, Sadie, Cooper, Emery, Levi and Peyton. Calling hours will be Monday, Oct. 16, from 6 to 8 PM at Teeters' Funeral Chapel, 505 Church St, Hawley, PA. There will be a Funeral Mass on Tuesday, Oct. 17, at 10:00 AM at BVM Queen of Peace Roman Catholic Church, 314 Chestnut Ave, Hawley, with Rev. Richard W. Beck, Pastor, officiating. Inurnment will follow in St Mary's Cemetery, Ledgedale.
