Michael and Mary Margaret,
I am so sorry for your loss. Your Mom was such a wonderful person. She always took care of me as I was playing with the bigger guys on the wiffle ball field. As I moved out of the area but came back to town, I would look for her on the porch and stop to say hi. Cheers to her and Ralph as they might be tipping a cold beer together. Best to you both and take care.

During my third-grade years, she served as my teacher, and I harbored a sense of fear towards her. As time passed and I matured, I came to realize her kindness and warmth. My heartfelt condolences go out to the family. Mary Margaret and Mike, I extend my sincere sympathy for the loss of your mother. Her memory will be cherished with fondness in our hearts.

Our mother, Martha McHale, loved Alicia so much. She thought of her as one of her closest friends because they agreed on so many things. She thought Alicia had great taste in books and my mom had pretty high standards. I am sure they are having a wonderful time laughing right now.

Mary and Mike - As a neighborhood child I was a bit scared of your mom but as an adult I got to know her better when she lived with Peg. Visiting with them both was always a time of laughter and their closeness as sisters was heartwarming. They are both missed.

So many fond memories of Alicia. She was one of my favorite elementary school teachers. She used to tell me it was best to not get in any kind of trouble in her class or she would send me to the principal’s office. I knew that would not end well on so many levels! She made an incredible impact on me growing up!
Sincerely,
Christie Kennedy Augustine

Alicia was a kind, dedicated teacher. I remember often watching her call a struggling student up to her desk for extra one-on-one practice. Joann Seiler, Alicia and I took my trips to NYC to see Broadway shows over the years, and we enjoyed many good laughs. You were one of a kind, Alicia, and I will miss you.

I was a student of Mrs. McLain in 3rd grade in the 70's. She is a major reason I was successful in school and later in life. Early in the school year she recognized my struggles with reading and writing were not developmental but an eye problem. She told my parents to have me see an eye doctor and sure enough, I had an issue with close up vision. With glasses I was able to see the words and numbers on a page and could then complete my work. I am now well into my fifties. I'm an Engineer and have a Masters Degree from Penn State and Mrs. McLain was one of the great teachers I had growing up in Hawley that set me on the trajectory I am on. My condolences to the family for your loss, your Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother will always be thought of as a positive influence in my life. I always credit her for rescuing me from a failed academic career. God bless you Mrs. McLain I appreciate your dedication to your students.
Sincerely
Robert Russell

To Alicia, my very dearest friend and mentor…you made lunches for me for field trips, always reminded of important things, and taught me so much. You are now truly in the “seat of wisdom” … a reference we teachers always made to you. Rest in Peace and God Bless!
Your grateful friend,
Dorothy
