Joseph D. Pizzo, Sr., age 81, of Paupack passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Friday, March 29, 2024. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Barbara Lynn (Fisher) Pizzo. Born December 3, 1942, in Staten Island, NY, he was the son of the late Joseph James and Helen (Stazzone) Pizzo. Joseph served in the Navy during the Cuban Missile Crisis and then became a police officer with the New York Transit Police. After moving to Paupack in 1979, Joseph owned and operated Eagle Abstract. An avid bowler for many years, he was a loyal NY Yankees fan and could often be found talking sports and politics. He also enjoyed going to casinos. However, he most loved his grandchildren and going to support them at their sports events. In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter: Deborah Austin and her husband Bruce of Paupack; four sons: Joseph D. Pizzo, Jr. and his significant other Dawn DeFeo of Paupack, Nicholas Pizzo and his wife Lisa of Hawley, Robert Pizzo and his significant other Tammy McCloskey of Greentown, and Michael Pizzo and his significant other Kaitlyn Herrmann of Throop; nine grandchildren: David Austin, Rebeca Pizzo, Nicholas Pizzo II, Julia Pizzo, Olivia Pizzo, Alexis Pizzo, Ryan Austin, Joseph Pizzo III, and Sophia Pizzo; and one great granddaughter: Emersyn Lin McConnell. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. The Pizzo family would like to extend their sincere gratitude and thanks to the staff of Hospice of the Sacred Heart for the wonderful care they provided for Joseph.
