Michael E. Goda Obituary

Michael Edward (Mike) Goda, 67, passed away suddenly on May 24, 2024, at his lakefront home in the community of Fawn Lake Forest in Hawley, Pennsylvania.

Mike was born in Milford, Connecticut on Sept. 4,1956 to the late William and Joan Goda. Growing up in Devon, he began forming life-long friendships at the age of 3, including Mark Prokop who would one day be his best man. He attended St. Joseph’s High School, graduating in 1974, Norwalk State Technical College, where he met his future wife, and the University of New Haven, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Technology.

Mike pursued a career in technology, working for multiple large companies including IBM. He then chose to be more hands-on with cutting-edge tech at several small start-ups. He enjoyed skiing, golfing, playing softball, and pool, through which he built a community of long-lasting friendships. In his retirement, he served on the Board of Directors for Fawn Lake, applying his technical expertise to improve community services.

Mike is survived by his wife of 27 years, Marcia Hopkins of Fairfield, Connecticut; his sisters, Carol Greenslade and Beverly Hurteau; his six nephews and nieces: Raymond Hurteau, Ian Hopkins, Kathryn Hurteau, Caitlin Shilati, Andrew Hopkins, and David Greenslade, along with eight grand nieces and nephews. Mike had two Godsons, his nephew Raymond Hurteau and Mark Louis Prokop. He will be greatly missed by his wife, many loving relatives, friends, and his rescue dog Zeva.

A visitation will be held at Teeter’s Funeral Chapel, 505 Church St., Hawley, on Thursday, May 30th from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. The funeral will follow at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
