Mrs. Callaghan was a lovely lady, and I always appreciated her radiant, sweet smile and friendliness. Visiting in Hawley just recently, we drove down River Street ... I just automatically pointed out to my hubby, "There was Mr. & Mrs. Callaghan's house..." Both were very special people.

When Mrs Callaghan was my 4th grade teacher, I gave her an African Violet for Christmas. Every time I saw her after that, for years and years and YEARS, she would recall that violet and tell me how much she enjoyed it and how well it was doing. I was surprised that with all of her students after so many years of teaching, that she'd remember me and that violet.
I wish to extend my condolences to her family.

As a native of Hawley I have many wonderful memories. Among those are memories of grade school - in the "old" white, wood frame school building - where I was instructed in fourth grade by Mrs. Callaghan. Great memories created by a great lady. She will be missed, and I extend my sincere condolences to Dan and his family.

I could not have asked for a better 4th grade teacher! "Flo" was always a loving and caring individual who had a way of making her students feel good about themselves, and she could do this even when "scolding" you for any infraction you may have committed. I shall always have good thoughts and memories of Flo.

Mrs. Callaghan was a wonderful person and teacher. Over the years I have thought of her; teaching us Math so patiently. I can picture the wood desks and chairs we sat in and the big windows facing the play ground. She was a wonderful influence on me as a Hawley Elem 4th grade student. Rest In Peace
